Things you need to know about Singapore. It's nice. It's clean.(Chewing gum is against the law) It's safe. It's green. It's fun. People speak English. There are people from all over the world. But most notably, it's expensive. Really really expensive. Singapore is located in Southeast Asia, but is nothing like any other country in Southeast Asia. A meal in Thailand is usually only a dollar or two. A meal in Singapore is around $30.
We were only there for 2 days. The first day Heather and I went to Universal Studios and acted like kids. It was quite a lot of fun. That night we went to eat along the river/ocean(I don't remember) and had a Singapore Sling, well, because when in Singapore... The drink was delicious. The price, was not. $15usd for one small drink, picture below. There were fireworks, most likely celebrating Chinese New Year. Isn't it appropriate to spend Chinese New Year in a place that reminds me of America...didn't plan that out.
The next day we went on a hike in the rain forest. Little know fact about the rain forest, it rains there. A lot! So naturally I was 3 miles away from civilization when it started raining with little or no rain protection. Thank goodness Nika had an extra poncho for me to borrow. It rained as hard as any time I can remember. We saw monkeys, gigantic lizards, and walked over a long suspension bridge. But the rainstorm was definitely the highlight on the hike for me.
Best things about Singapore; golf courses everywhere, green everywhere, and rain forests literally minutes from down town. Of all of the places I traveled, Singapore would be my choice of next place to live. It's basically America in a more interesting location.
Next week: Bali, Indonesia
